There were two travelers who were lost in a desert and had been walking for days. They were fatigued, thirsty, and ready to give up… when in the distance, one of them saw something glistening in the sand.
They moved with whatever might they had to inch closer, “It’s a Diamond!!” exclaimed one of them, now hopeful that that they could sell it for money to get some water and food when they arrived at the next town.
The other traveler thought it was just an ordinary stone, but was too tired to argue and take a chance. Adamant that he was looking at a diamond, the first traveler started carrying this huge stone on his back. With this weight, they started walking slower and slower in search of a town, becoming even more fatigued with no idea where or when they would ever reach their destination…
When we are fatigued, we lose the mental clarity to see things clearly. How many rocks are we carrying on our backs that are actually slowing us down and distracting us from where we want to go? What practices are like our water, that help us see more clearly?
